Dalton State right back Joshua Ramos is another Roadrunner moving on to the pro level as he has inked a one-year contract with Tormenta FC. He has a club option for a second year. Ramos recently completed his associate degree at DS and is now moving on to the next level of his career.
Ramos completes his collegiate career playing in 36 matches with 33 starts tallying 14 goals, 15 assists, and 43 points. He was a 2-time All-American, 2023 United Soccer Coaches 2nd team and 2022 NAIA 2nd team, and a 2-time All-SSAC 1st team honoree.
The Sebring, Fla.
resident and native of the U.S. Virgin Islands missed one Roadrunner match this season captaining the USVI National Team in a Nations League match against Aruba.
Ramos discussed his decision to join Tormenta saying, "I chose Tormenta because they best align with my core values as a player. I value family and I feel that the way the team is shaped that family is at the forefront of all coaching and player development. This allows us to build a strong cohesion on and off the field."
Tormenta coach Ian Cameron is excited to have Ramos join their club saying, "Our club gets great joy from finding guys who fly under that radar a little, but, when provided the opportunity, will flourish at USL level. We're bullish that Josh can make a big impact in his first year as a pro with us. He has all the physical and technical attributes to be a very good attacking outside back, and will allow us to maintain a consistent game model in how we want our right backs to operate. There is always an adaption period for young players like Josh, but what gives us confidence he can convert quickly is the program he arrives from, Dalton State, are really well coached and held to a high set of standards, therefore making the transition easier. If he absorbs our information quickly he could make an immediate impact."
Like his former teammate Franca, Ramos will see the area again when Tormenta FC visits Chattanooga Red Wolves SC at CHI Memorial Stadium on Saturday, June 22. Speaking of Franca, his new club, Richmond Kickers will see Ramos and Tormenta on four occasions during the upcoming season. Tormenta will visit Richmond on March 23 and August 10, with the Kickers coming to Statesboro on May 25 and October 12.
