White Oak Bicycle Co-Op Drives To Make Impact - More Bikes Needed

  • Tuesday, October 1, 2024

Thus far in 2024, White Oak Bicycle Co-Op has refurbished and distributed more than 500 bicycles to a host of community partners who serve local residents. The nonprofit is dedicated to enhancing public health, access to bicycles, improving alternative transportation, and promoting bicycle safety throughout the region.

With a goal of distributing 700 bikes in 2024, White Oak needs bike donations. Refurbished by volunteers, donated bikes will help meet the need in the busy holiday season.

Bicycle donations can be made at any of the 12 collection sites located across the community. Location of donation sites can be found on the organization's website at www.whiteoakbicycle.org.

"We are thrilled to see the positive impact of our efforts reflected in the number of bicycles distributed and children educated this year," said Blake Pierce, CEO of White Oak Bicycle Co-Op. "Our mission is to make cycling accessible to everyone while promoting safety and community spirit. We couldn't have achieved this without the support of our dedicated volunteers and generous donors."

“To continue to meet demand, we need more bikes,” said Ben Richards, director of Bicycle Operations at White Oak. “Anyone with a bike they want to donate can drop off the bike at any of our 12 collection sites. We are thankful to have great community partners who are willing to support the community in this way. From Signal Mountain to East Ridge, there is a collection site near you.”

Since its inception in 2020, White Oak Bicycle Co-Op has refurbished and distributed back into the community over 1,600 bicycles.
