Nancy Emily Williams, 85, loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, October 10, 2024.

She was born in Chattanooga, on April 6, 1939, to the late Herschel Friddell (father) and late Pauline Gass Friddell (mother).

Nancy is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, James C. Williams, and her four children, Karen Worley (Hoyt), Vickie Anderson (Steve), Michael Williams (Debbie) and Scott Williams (Cynthia), as well as her brother, Kenneth Friddell (Deborah) and sister-in-law, JoAnn McDaniel (Don). She is also survived by her 16 loving grandchildren and 20 wonderful great-grandchildren.

Nancy was a 1957 graduate of Birchwood High School and spent many years working as a telephone switch-board operator and worked at McKee Bakery until retiring. Nancy found great joy in several activities including going to church, listening to music, reading and shopping at her favorite stores. Nancy traveled the country as the wife of a U.S. Navy serviceman and was a dedicated mother to her four children throughout these years.

Nancy, affectionately called “Granny” by her grandchildren, was the picture perfect “Granny” who always had a bag full of treats and supported her grandchildren throughout her life. She made sure that they all knew she was proud of them and loved each unconditionally. Her family was her life! Her gentle and loving spirit will be greatly missed by all.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Oct. 15, from 4-8 p.m. at Turner Funeral Home at Highway 58. A visitation will also be held on Wednesday, Oct. 16, from 10–11:30 a.m. at Maple Grove Baptist Church, 9525 Birchwood Pike, Harrison, Tn. 37341.

The funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m. with Pastor Ken Purdie and Randy Chestnutt officiating.

Nancy will be laid to rest at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
