Here is the weekly road construction report for District 29:

BRADLEY COUNTY I-75 Utility Work both directions from MM 29.4 to MM 18.7:Law Enforcement Assisted Rolling roadblock will be performed on I-75 beginning southbound (near Hooper Gap) at mile marker 29.4 and beginning northbound at mile marker 18.7 (near Bancroft Rd). Message boards, trucks, and law enforcement vehicles will be present along I-75and ramps. Motorists should reduce speed, be prepared to stop, and expect delays. 03/24/24 from 6:30 am - 7:30 am. BRADLEY COUNTY I-75 at Paul Huff Parkway Interchange modifications:During this reporting period, the contractor will continue grading on the I-75 NB ramp off at Paul Huff Parkway. This work will take place behind temporary portable barrier rail. Left shoulder of Northbound exit ramp to Paul Huff Parkway will be closed for ramp construction. Motorists are advised to reduce speed and use caution in the work zone.

BRADLEY COUNTY SR-60 widening from the 4-lane north of I-75 (LM 17.2) to SR-306 (LM19.9):During this reporting period, the contractor will be working to remove the old bridge over Candies Creek and install new storm drainage. Intermittent flagging operations will take place at Crown Colony Drive during grading operations. The speed limit in the work zone has been reduced to 35 mph. Motorists are advised to use caution in the work zone and watch for flaggers assisting with traffic control.

BRADLEY COUNTY SR-311 (APD-40) Utility Work both directions at LM 2.58:Multi lane closures on SR-311 / APD-40 from Varnell Road to Industrial Drive SW / Refreshment Lane SW. Motorists should reduce speed and be prepared to stop. Trucks, signage, flaggers, and barrels/cones will be present, 02/29/24 through 03/27/24 from 9 am - 2 pm. [2023-727]

BRADLEY COUNTY SR-40 (US-64) resurfacing from SR-2 (US-11, US-64, LM 0.0) to near McKamy Street (LM 1.2):The contractor is closing SR-40 Westbound right lane from Bates Street to Edwards Street for the construction of a concrete island. This temporary closure will remain in place until the resurfacing is completed on SR-40 and permanent marking is in place for the new alignment.

BRADLEY, HAMILTON, MEIGS, RHEA, AND POLK COUNTY Curb ramp upgrades in District 29:During this reporting period, the contractor will be removing and replacing existing curb ramps in Polk County on SR68 from near Vine Street to Jackson Street. the contractor will be removing and replacing existing curb ramps in Hamilton County on SR-29 LM 25.72-28.32, SR-2 LM 0.00-3.75, SR-58 LM 4.57-6.45, and SR-319 LM 12.38-21.29. Motorists are advised to reduce speed in the work zone and watch for flaggers assisting with traffic control. Shoulder closures are possible in this area as work to upgrade the curb ramps gets underway.

HAMILTON COUNTY I-24 Utility Work both directions at MM 181:Shoulder and lane closure on 4th Avenue at the on and off ramps to 1-24. Motorists should reduce speed and be prepared to stop. HAMILTON COUNTY I-75 TDOT Bridge Maintenance southbound at MM 7.5:Region 2 bridge repair will be performing nighttime deck patching on 03/25/2024 beginning at 9:00 PM. This will consist of work being conducted in lanes 3 and 4. Temporary traffic control will be in place for the closure. Motorists should use caution while traveling through the work zone.

HAMILTON COUNTY I-24 concrete repair from east of the I-124 (US-27) ramps (MM 179.0) to east of Long Street (MM 178.8):During this reporting period from 9 PM-6 AM, there will be nightly lane closures on I24 and the I24 WB off ramp to US27 NB. During these closures, there is the possibility that ramps might be temporarily closed. During the weekdays from 9 PM-6 AM, there will be 1 lane closed on I24 EB and WB. Also, during this time, US27 SB Traffic onto I24 EB ramp traffic will be detoured onto the Broad St. ramp. The traffic will use the new Frontage Road and get back onto I24 EB at the Market St. on-ramp to I24 EB. Traffic should expect possible long delays during this time and to find alternate routes around this area.

HAMILTON COUNTY I-75 at I-24 Interchange Reconstruction Phase 2:Nightly lane closures will occur on this project, 9 PM to 6 AM, on I-75 North and South between Exit 1 (East Ridge) and Exit 3A (East Brainerd Road/ SR-320) and on I-24 East and West from Germantown Road to Spring Creek Road, MM182 to MM185, for various construction activities. To perform some work, rolling roadblocks may also be used in addition to lane closures to separate vehicles from construction activities. Uniformed police officers will be present in these work zones to assist with traffic management and to enforce traffic laws. (Note: The Contractor is scheduled to work on I-24 East at Exit 183 (Germantown Road) on Sunday (3/24) and Monday (3/25) night. Work will involve realigning the Germantown Road ramp (Exit 183) to begin work on a new noise wall. To safely perform part of this realignment work, it will be necessary to close the ramp on Monday (3/25) night between the hours of 11 PM and 6 AM. Traffic needing to exit I-24 to East Ridge will be directed to Exit 1 off I-75 South. Traffic needing to exit I-24 to the Brainerd Area will be directed to Exit 3B (East Brainerd Road/ SR-320) off I-75 North. Message boards and signs will be in place to alert and guide traffic through and around this work.) Due to winter weather, it may be necessary to do short duration (15 to 30 minutes) rolling roadblocks during the day for patching potholes, clearing debris or to repair guardrail, attenuators, etc. The left lane on North and South Terrace between Belvoir Avenue and Spring Creek Road will be closed for installation of drainage structures, retaining and noise wall construction. Intermittent daytime non-rush hour lane closures may also be necessary throughout the period on South Terrace and North Terrace to work on utilities, street lighting, and various other construction items. All work is weather permitting. Moore Road and McBrien Road bridges over I 24 are closed as well as the entrance and exit ramps to I-24 between Belvoir Avenue and Moore Road. A continuous flow detour using Belvoir Avenue and Spring Creek Road is in place for local traffic. The closures and detour will be in place for approximately 5 months.RESTRICTIONS: Moore Road and McBrien Road over I-24 closed. I-24 Ramps between Belvoir and Moore Road closed.

HAMILTON COUNTY SR-2 (BRAINERD RD.) Utility Work westbound at LM 12.92:Shoulder and single lane closure on SR-2 (Brainerd Rd) at the intersection of Manor Rd for utility work. HAMILTON COUNTY SR-2 (BROAD ST.) Utility Work southbound from LM 6.60 to LM 6.67:Shoulder and single lane closures on SR-2 from W. 28th Street to Williams Street. Motorists should reduce speed and be prepared to stop. Trucks, signage, flaggers, and barrels/cones will be present, 03/18/24 through 04/13/24 from 9 am - 2 pm. [2023-546]

HAMILTON COUNTY SR-2 (DODDS AVE.) Utility Work both directions at LM 10.36:Shoulder and single lane closure on SR-2 (Brainerd Rd) at the intersection of East 18th St for an aerial crossing. Motorists should reduce speed and be prepared to stop. Trucks, signage, and barrels/cones will be present 3/21/24 with a rain date of 3/22/24, 9 am to 2 pm. [2024-149]

HAMILTON COUNTY SR-2 (LEE HWY.) Utility Work both directions from LM 20.04 to LM 20.35:Shoulder and single lane closures on Lee Highway (SR-2) between Walker Rd and at the intersection of Bonny Oaks. There will be brief stoppages of all traffic at Walker Rd and at the new Subaru dealership. Trucks, flaggers, barrels, and cones will be present 9 am -2 pm, 03/25/24 - 03/27/24. [2024-162]

HAMILTON COUNTY SR-58 (MARKET ST.) Utility Work southbound from LM 3.82 to LM 3.91:Shoulder and single lane closures on SR-58 from W. 26th Street to Shipp Avenue. Motorists should reduce speed and be prepared to stop. Trucks, signage, flaggers, and barrels/cones will be present, 03/18/24 through 04/13/24 from 9 am - 2 pm. [2023-547]

HAMILTON COUNTY I-75 at the Hamilton Place Mall interchange:The SR-153 southbound ramp to I-75 northbound has been reduced to one lane. I-75 northbound has been shifted to the outside reducing to 3 lanes from MM 4.6 to MM 6.0.

HAMILTON COUNTY SR-111 construction of two small drainage structures at LM 1.7 and LM 2.4:On SR111 Northbound and Southbound from LM 1.5-2.00, traffic will be down to 1 lane on SR111 as the contractor works on the project. The motoring public needs to be careful traveling this direction as workers will be present. On Monday and Tuesday of this reporting period from 8 AM-5:30 PM, there will be rolling roadblocks on SR111 as the contractor shifts the traffic from the outside lanes in the Southbound direction to the inside lane.

HAMILTON COUNTY SR-317 (Apison Pike) improvement project from SR-321 (Ooltewah-Ringgold Road) to east of Layton Lane:Lane closures and flagging operations will be required on SR-317, Apison Pike, for utility and grading work. The flagging operations will be performed on 03/21/24, 03/22/24, 03/25/24, 03/26/24 and 03/27/24 from 7 AM to 1 PM and 3 PM to 7 PM. Closures will last about 2 hours per location. The contractor will have intermittent flagging operations during daytime non-peak hours for utility work, delivery of materials and equipment.

HAMILTON COUNTY SR-8 (US-41, US-76) Bachman Tubes cleaning:On Thursday Night of this reporting period, the contractor will be shutting down the tunnels from 8 PM-6 AM to clean it. There will be a signed detour for traffic to follow to get around the closure.

MCMINN COUNTY SR-2 (CONGRESS PKWY.) Utility Work southbound from LM 13 to LM 14:Shoulder and lane closures on SR-2 (Congress Pkwy) between Velma Road and Layman Road. Motorists should reduce speed and be prepared to stop. Trucks, signage, and barrels/cones will be present, 01/08/24 through 05/07/24 from 7 am to 5 pm. [2023-412]

MCMINN COUNTY SR-39 construction of a bridge over Middle Creek (LM 13.4):During this reporting period, the Northbound and Southbound traffic will be reduced to one lane and controlled by traffic signals. County road 567 will be closed to traffic (LOCAL TRAFFIC ONLY) and detoured to SR039. This closure is necessary to perform the bridge replacement. The lane restriction will remain in place until the bridge replacement is completed.

MEIGS COUNTY SR-58 at SR-68 (LM 26.9) construction of a roundabout, and safety improvements on SR-58 near Nebo Road (LM 29.2):During this period, the contractor will be performing final sign installation for construction of a new roundabout. Intermittent lane closures are possible on SR-58 and SR-68 from 8 AM to 6 PM as work is performed. Motorists are advised to reduce speed in the work zone and watch for flaggers assisting with traffic control.
