Richard R. Petty, Sr.
Richard R. Petty, Sr., 77, passed away peacefully at home on March 26, 2024.
Richard was born in Ooltewah, to the late Arvil Lee Petty and the late Ruby Cleo Petty. He graduated from Ooltewah High School in 1965. Richard was a member of the Chattanooga Masonic Lodge 199, Free and Accepted Masons of Tennessee, Chattanooga Scottish Rite and the York Rite Bodies of Chattanooga.
He leaves behind his wife of 58 years, Lela R. Petty; his son, Richard R. Petty, Jr. and his wife, Karen Petty; his daughter, Sherry Ford and her husband, John Ford; his brothers, Michael Cannon, Johnny Cannon, Marshall Petty and his wife, Lieselotta Petty; his sisters, Sue Stanfield and her husband, Charles Stanfield and Ruthie Shipley; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Saturday, March 30.
For those attending the service on Monday, we will be meeting the family at the cemetery.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 1, at Lakewood Memory Gardens, East, with Brother Terry L. Plemons officiating. A Masonic service will be held to conclude the service.
