Jamie Kristin Jones Brown
Jamie Kristin Jones Brown, born on July 24, 1980, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and peacefully departed this world to be with the Lord our God on September 17, 2024.
Jamie attended Ooltewah Elementary School and Ooltewah Middle School, and she completed her high school education at Ooltewah High School in May of 1998 where she participated as a cheerleader and was a member of the track and field team.
After graduating from high school, Jamie attended Alabama A & M University for two years where she majored in business administration. Because of her love for cheerleading, she became a member of the cheerleading team with her joyous ray of sunshine and fun spirit. She continued her education attending Chattanooga College and graduated Cum Laude with a diploma in Dental Assisting (medical, dental, and technical) career degree in 2008. Prior to her death, in August she enrolled in Chattanooga State Community College to continue her education.
In Jamie’s professional life she worked various jobs and positions. She was a hard worker, a positive worker, a fast learner and a joy to be around. She started working at the young age of 16. At times she worked three jobs at one time. She did not mind working; she was truly a go getter. She was employed by Mars, Incorporated in Chattanooga until her departure.
Jamie knew the Lord. She accepted Christ in 1995 and was baptized confirming her faith. During her younger years she attended church with her grandmother and grandfather, the late Owen and Pearline Jones and during her teenage years she attended Hawkinsville Baptist Church and later in life started attending Hurst United Methodist Church. During Jamie’s battle with breast cancer, she posted verses of scripture throughout her home on all the walls leaning on the Lord for strength and encouragement. She trusted in God to sustain and to strengthen her throughout her illness. God certainly did until her final breath and that’s when God said to her, "It is time to come home my child."
She was a beacon of light, a ray of sunshine, that was Jamie Kristin Jones Brown. Jamie was God’s light. She was strong and determined. She faced her battle with cancer with incredible courage. A woman of faith, her kindness mirrored the heart of Christ. And you could see it in every one of her relationships. She was a loving and devoted wife, parent, daughter, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend. Full of joy, fun and laughter, she brought life to every moment with a beautiful smile. She loved to cook, loved to decorate, loved fashion, traveling, having fun and supporting her nieces and nephews. She really loved her family. She loved people, especially children and children loved her because of her cheerful and upbeat personality. But most of all she loved Joshua, her husband of 18 years, and their two beautiful daughters, Jaliyah, and Jayden, her heart, pride and joy.
Despite facing health challenges and pain Jamie continued to keep going, pushing herself to enjoy life with her family. She traveled with her husband, close friends, and daughters. She was dedicated in attending her daughters’ school and summer activities. It was because of her faith in God she continued to persevere. She would say, "I need to continue to live for my family."
Jamie will always be remembered for her beautiful smile, positive attitude, upbeat personality and the joy she brought to all who loved her and all who were around her. We will truly miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Albert N. Scruggs, grandmother, Lois S. Scruggs, uncle, Reverend Jonathan S. Scruggs, aunt, Josephine Scruggs, grandfather, Owens Jones, and grandmother, Pearline Jones.
