Re: Haisten case:

So someone with money on Lookout Mountain can allow a party of juveniles consuming alcohol and they are smacked on the wrist.

As a former teen of some 30 years ago and speaking from experience from both sides of the aisle, I personally don’t think I would consider it to be a slap on the wrist to be arrested, have to make bail and then have your mug shots and names plastered all over the local media and news outlets for what appears to be a bunch of uninvited teenage party guests.

All accounts that I have read states that no alcohol was located inside the residence by the LMPD, and almost all the alcohol was located within personal vehicles or along the roadway.

It also appears the Haistens cooperated fully once they were made aware of what was going on around the residence and tried to rectify it.

I think if anything all parents can take away from this would be, it was a very painful lesson of how quickly things can get out of hand if you don’t have eyes in the back of your head when hosting a teenage party.
