Cleveland was finally able to cap its regular season against Notre Dame after a postponement earlier in the week and having to push back Friday's start by an hour, at Bill Talley Stadium.

When the action was finally underway, the pitchers dominated the play with just a couple of unearned Raider runs without benefit of a hit making the difference in the 2-0 shutout of Notre Dame.

The squads were finally able to take the field around 7 p.m., but the hurlers put a damper on the bats with a combined 29 strike outs and a dozen shutout at bats.

Notre Dame's Cooper Jones posted 14 Ks, while a trio of Raider hurlers — Collin Stuart, Owen Goglio, Tyler Gardner — set down 15 Irish on strikes.

Cleveland spoiled Jones' effort with a pair walks, a dropped third strike, a passed ball and a wild pitch to score twice in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Jax Hafley opened the winning rally by drawing a base on balls before giving way to pinch runner Jayden Bates, who promptly stole second base during a strikeout of the next batter and went to third on a passed ball.

River Briggs looked like he would be another K on a swinging third strike but the ball got past the Notre Dame catcher, allowing him to reach safely and Bates to race home.

After another strikeout, during which Briggs swiped second, Collin Stuart "walked the line."

Another passed ball allowed Briggs to reach third base and he scored on a wild pitch while Jones was notching yet another K.

Cleveland had chances to score early with back-to-back singles by Sam Coleman and Stuart in the opening at bat, but an Irish double play ended the threat.

In the third, the Raiders got the bases loaded when Briggs was "plunked" with two outs before Coleman knocked his second hit and Stuart drew a base on balls.
However, Jones left them stranded with another strikeout.

Cleveland's other thwarted scoring opportunity came when Caden Tippens opened the bottom of the sixth with a single, and courtesy runner Braylen Pratt stole second and third before a two-out walk to Hafley, but Jones once again finished off the threat with his 14th strikeout.

While Cooper allowed four hits, plus handed out five free passes, the Cleveland mound crew gave up just a pair of hits and four "freebies" in the shutout performance.

Stuart opened on the bump, firing three hitless frames, with a half dozen Ks and only one walk, plus he hit a batter.

Goglio came on for the next three innings, striking out eight, but giving up four free passes and allowing a single to KK Smith in the sixth for the first Irish hit.

Gardner, a Roane State commit, took the hill for the final Irish at bat, opening with a strikeout, but giving up a two-out double to Jones before getting the final batter to pop out on the infield.
