The second annual Stump Martin Memorial Tennessee-Georgia Middle School Futures Classic game will be played Tuesday night June 24, at Ridgeland High School. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Tickets are $8 for adults, $6 for senior citizens and military personnel and children 12 and under will get in free.
The game will feature rising freshmen from southeast Tennessee battle their counterparts from northwest Georgia.
Last year's inaugural game at Ridgeland saw Team Tennessee thwart a late-game rally by Team Georgia to hang on for a narrow 9-8 victory.
Cristopher Smith (Baylor) took home overall Player of the Game honors by going 2 for 2 with a double and two RBIs. Fisher Higgins (Soddy-Daisy), who was 2 for 3 with a pair of doubles and one run scored, was the Tennessee MVP, while Colby Burgess (Heritage) was named as the Georgia MVP after going 2 for 2 with a run scored and an RBI. He also struck out one batter in one inning of relief.
Team Georgia will be coached this year by Tyler Payne (Ringgold), Jeff Guffey (Gordon Lee) and Slade Dale (Saddle Ridge), while they will be opposed by a Team Tennessee staff comprised of Mike Fessler (Chattanooga Christian), Noah Hill (Boyd-Buchanan) and Jon Wilson (Ocoee).
