The Town and Country Restaurant served up some of the best food in Chattanooga for nearly 60 years. The popular eatery on N. Market Street closed almost 20 years ago, but still holds a special place in the city’s restaurant history. Readers may remember the famous sign on top of the restaurant which costs hundreds of dollars a week to keep lit. A Walgreen’s pharmacy sits on the popular corner today.

Right before Bill Hall turned out the lights for the final time in August, 2005, broadcaster Earl Freudenberg asked Mr. Hall about famous people who ate at the Town and Country.
