CALHOUN, Ga. — Traveling south of the state line Thursday evening, the Cleveland Waterdogs were able to come away with their second win of the Chattanooga Area Swim League season.
Improving to 2-2 in Red Division action, the Waterdogs took the bite out of the Calhoun (Ga.) Blue Barracudas with a 414-345 thrashing.
Behind the strength of 19 double-digits scorers accounting for 61.5% of their points, the Waterdogs won eight of the dozen age divisions.
The victors got "Perfect 19s" from Brooklyn Shumway (Girls 11-12) and Lincoln Eberly (Mens 15-Older) to lead the way.
The visitors won five of the half dozen youngest divisions, with Zoe DeBord putting up 17 points in the Girls 6-Under and Camden Gray notching 10 to win the Boys 6-Under.
Zara DeBord put up a dozen points to claim the Girls 7-8 crown, while Eleanor Franklin helped out with eight markers.
Waterdog Knox Berry and Calhoun's William Rickett tied atop the Boys 7-8 with 15 points apiece, while Cleveland's Charles Shumway added 11 to the 39-15 Waterdog division dominance.
Although Blue Barracuda Cassidy Gray took a one-point win the Girls 9-10 with 16 markers, the Waterdogs countered with 15 apiece from Sofie Rullman and Madison Hicks, plus 10 and seven respectively from Alice Bezerra and Ellie Satterfield in a 47-21 win.
The hosts lone division in the younger half came in the Boys 9-10 by a slim 43-36 margin with Grayson Howell putting up 17 points.
Waterdogs Carter Gray and Harvey Eberly tied for second with 11 markers, while teammate Kyle Cusion added 10.
The teams split the 11-12 action with the Waterdogs taking the girls 50-28 behind Brooklyn Shumway's 19, plus Kayla Burgueno and Ellery Chapman adding 12 and 11, respectively.
The Barracudas claimed a 49-42 victory in the boys division, but Waterdog Christian Chai led the bracket with 17 points.
Cleveland also got eight points from Jackson Hicks, plus seven each by Sam English and Sam Woods.
Calhoun's biggest win came in the Girls 13-14 by a 54-24 margin with Morgan Cox putting up a "Perfect 19," plus Reese Bagwell adding 17 and Madelyn Burch 13. The Waterdogs got nine from Laura Ward, and seven by Elle Cusion to top their effort in the division.
The Cleveland boys answered with a 34-18 win in the Boys 13-14, countering Barracuda Atticus Stephens's 18 with 14 by Marquette Shumway and a dozen by Michael Andrews.
The teams also split the oldest races, with the host ladies taking a 52-17 win, while the Waterdog men won 52-28.
The Barracudas took the top three spots in the first bracket — Caylon Trundle (19), Lindsey Cox (16) and Ashley Ramirez (12). The Waterdogs got eight apiece from Alania Chapman and Sydni Lauer, plus seven by Claire Wendorf.
The Waterdogs captured three of the top four slots in the men's division with Lincoln Eberly's perfection leading the way.
Ty Lauer was second with 14 markers, while Calhoun's Jonah Ogas claimed third with 10 and Matthew Fox was right behind with nine for the visitors.
Fifteen Barracudas put up double digits, which accounted for 62.9% of their tally.
