The Nancy Ward Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) recently held a White Elephant Auction in honor of The Month of the Military Child to benefit A Soldier’s Child Foundation.
Officials said, "Through the generosity of its members, the chapter raised $700 to support a military child who has lost a parent in service to their country. The funds will be used to provide a nurturing and supportive summer camp experience designed to meet their unique needs, in addition to providing them with birthday presents on their special day."
A Soldier’s Child Foundation, based in Smyrna, Tennessee, is "dedicated to serving children of fallen military heroes by offering supportive camps, mentorships, birthday celebrations and year-round programs that foster healing, growth and joy."
“Supporting the children of our nation’s service members is a cause close to our hearts,” said Janetta Reed, chair of the Project Patriot Committee.
“This project highlights the DAR commitment to not only provide support for our military personnel and their families, but to honor their service and sacrifices.”
