Luvenia Jackson Hobbs
Luvenia Jackson Hobbs, 87, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, peacefully passed away on March 29, 2025, at a local healthcare facility.
Born on July 8, 1937, in Chattanooga, she was the cherished daughter of Willie F. Witherow and Mabel Felker Witherow. Luvenia lived a life marked by love, service, and unwavering dedication to her family, faith, and community.
A talented musician, Luvenia served faithfully as the pianist at First Baptist Church of Ooltewah, where her music touched the hearts of many. She was also known for her passion for baking, delighting others with her homemade cakes.
Luvenia was employed at Burlington Textile Company in Cleveland, Tn., and enjoyed playing softball with the First Tennessee Bank softball team. Her heart for service extended to her work with Meals on Wheels, where she not only delivered meals but also served as a supervisor, embodying kindness and compassion in all she did.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Richard Hobbs; two daughters, Sylvia Walker and Darlene Faye Thompson; six brothers; and two sisters.
Luvenia’s legacy lives on through her devoted daughter, Beverly Jackson (Thomas) Hammond; her six loving grandchildren: Darrell Miller, Daphne Miller, Melissa Miller, LaKeisha Baker, Gerald Thompson, and Kendal Hammond; niece, Carlethia Watts; nephew, Wendal Hill; and her treasured friend, Robin Casey.
A public viewing will be held on Thursday, April 10, beginning at 9 a.m., followed by a Celebration of Life service at 3 p.m. in the chapel of John P. Franklin Funeral Home. Interment will take place at a later date.
