W. Do Something
Jere Chumley and Janet McNutt will be exhibiting paintings and pottery at POET'S, a coffee house, gallery and bookstore located at 65 Central Avenue in Cleveland, Tn., (across from St. Luke's Episcopal Church).
The exhibit will run through the end of February.
Hours are Tuesday and Wednesday from 12:00 - 9:00 p.m.; Thursday from 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.; Friday from 12:00 – 9:00 p.m.; and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Chumley, a charter member of the faculty at Cleveland State Community College, retired in 2003 after 36 years as head of the Art Department. This is the first time that he has exhibited his paintings since his retirement.
Janet McNutt, a potter since 1980, has exhibited her pottery in the area for many years in a variety of venues. McNutt and Chumley moved to Georgetown, Tn., in 1986, and she is the owner of Avallon Art, the home/studios of the two artists.
Both artists create imagery based on the east Tennessee landscape coupled with visual form that is often grounded in socio-political issues and events.
The artists will be present for a reception with refreshments to meet and speak with interested viewers on Sunday, Feb. 20, from 2-5 p.m.
