Chattanooga keeper Caroline Ekern was named the Southern Conference Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.
Ekern played all 180 minutes in goal for the Mocs last week. She got the season started with a 4-0 win over Winthrop in the season opener at home and made a career-high nine saves in UTC’s 1-0 loss on the road at Alabama. She finished the week with a .909 saves percentage and allowed just one goal.
The Knoxville, Tenn., native ranks second on Chattanooga’s all-time wins list with 24 and moved into a tie for second on UTC’s chart with the 15th clean sheet of her career.
Chattanooga hosts Indiana State and Morehead State in a pair of home games this week.
