Zigmunt Zimny
Zygmunt S. “Zig” Zimny, 91, of Chattanooga, died on January 25, 2010.
He was born July 21, 1918 and raised in Lackawanna, N.Y. Mr. Zimny was a graduate of the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, College of Engineering and was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII.
After 40 years of service, he retired from Dupont Chemical Company. He was a 60-year member of White Oak United Methodist Church.
Mr. Zimny was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Ruth; son, David Zimny and wife Elaine of Canton, Ga.; daughter, Kathleen Line and husband, Mike of Knoxville, Tn.; grandchildren, Stephen Zimny and wife Carol of North Carolina, Daniel Zimny and wife Ellen of Georgia and Ashley Line of Florida; four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 30, at White Oak United Methodist Church, 2232 Lyndon Avenue, Chattanooga, Tn. 37415, with Rev. Amy Cook officiating. Visitation will follow in the fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to White Oak United Methodist Church.
