William "Bill" Herbert Richardson, 85, of Cleveland, died on Saturday, May 22, 2010, at his home.

He was born in Hastings, WV, grew up in Arkansas, and also lived in Florida. Bill lived in Chattanooga for more than 35 years and was a retired sales engineer and private pilot. Bill served our country in WWII in the Army Air Force as a pilot and was honorably discharged in 1946 with a rank of Corporal. While in the service, he received a WWII Victory Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and American Theater Ribbon. He was a longstanding member of the Chattanooga Flyers Club, member of the Tasso Methodist Church in Cleveland and the Cleveland/Bradley Senior Center and an avid card player.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Drew Richardson; and brother, Robert Richardson.

Bill is survived by his son, William H. Richardson, Jr. of Anniston, Ala.; daughters, Patty Silverman of Cleveland and Beverly Falls of Buford, Ga.; four grandchildren, Stephanie Fant of Tallapoosa, Ga., Bethany Silverman of Cleveland, Drew Falls of Tulsa, Okla. and Kara Falls Welten of Buford, Ga.; three great-grandchildren, Sydney Fant and Grayson Fant of Tallapoosa, Ga. and Ava Welton of Buford, Ga.; sister, Margie Lee Coleman of Salem, Ark.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 25, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the Reverend Michael Cutshaw officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery, Chattanooga, with military honors. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.

His family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, May 24 at the funeral home.
