Donna Lynn Day died on Thursday, April 7, 2011. She was surrounded by her loved ones.
The daughter of Samuel and Jackye Day, Donna was born in Knoxville. She graduated from Tyner High School in 1976 and was a graduate of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
She was preceded in death by her father, Samuel Day, and special friend, David Heidt.
She retired from Hutcheson Medical Center in 2010, where she served as a registered dietitian.
Donna wanted everyone to know that of all the places she worked, Hutcheson Medical Center held a special place in her heart and that she cared deeply for her fellow employees who supported her during her courageous battle with cancer.
Although she had many talents and interests, she loved the outdoors, particularly spending time at the beach. Donna also enjoyed hiking with close friends and loved gardening. She had a love of flowers, and she has now gone to tend to God's garden.
Donna is survived by her mother, Jackye Day; sister, Susan Holloway; brother, Daniel Day; brother, Robert Day; sister, Janna Day Cotton and her close Peri Friends.
Donations can be made to The Carcinoid Cancer Foundation or Hutcheson Hospice.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 9, at Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park with Pastor Pat Davis officiating.
The family will receive friends on Saturday morning at the funeral home until leaving for the cemetery.
