Kelly Grace Selena Butler, 17, died on Monday, August 22, 2011.

Kelly was valedictorian and president of her senior class at the Center for Creative Arts where she was enthusiastic about her friends, drama, arts, and forensic competition. She wrote her first play this spring that was produced in Ohio. Kelly loved acting and had received many artistic and academic awards.

Kelly enjoyed cooking with her dad, riding her motorcycle, hiking, rock climbing, cliff jumping, tubing, and donating her time to various good causes. Kelly was a big fan of the library and carried a book with her everywhere she went. Kelly celebrated life and lived it to the fullest every day of her short 17 years.

Survivors include her parents, Gary and Stephany Butler; grandma, Connie Cote’; brothers, T.J. and Taylor Butler; aunts, Karen Givens, Shelley Norris, Pam George, Lynda, Gayle and Jennifer Butler; uncles, Dave and Daniel Butler, Dennis Givens and many loving cousins.

A celebration of her life will be at 4 p.m. on Saturday, August 27, at Chattanooga Center for Creative Arts, with a reception 2-4 p.m. also at the school.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Kelly Butler Memorial Fund, made payable to PAPA (identify Kelly Butler Memorial Fund on check) Attn: Susan Drew, Chattanooga Center for Creative Arts, 1301 Dallas Road, Chattanooga, Tn. 37405-2225.
