Senator Corker Honors Veterans

  • Sunday, November 11, 2012

Senator Bob Corker, R-Tn., on Sunday made the following statement in honor of Veterans Day:

“Whether it’s in Afghanistan, or at a military hospital, or at a Veterans Day event in Tennessee, it is humbling and often overwhelming to be in the presence of our active duty service men and women and our nation’s veterans,” said Corker. “I approach today with a deep sense of gratitude for their service and sacrifices and with a sense of mission – that the best way I can honor them is to wake up every day committed to doing everything I can to help solve our country’s problems so that we ensure the greatness of America that they have fought to protect.”

Over the past year, Senator Corker’s office, working in partnership with members of the Tennessee congressional delegation, local officials and veterans service organizations, organized a series of “Rally Point” events in an effort to provide veterans and their families with a one-stop shop to access local resources. A combined 1,100 Tennesseans attended Rally Point events in Knoxville, Cookeville and Jackson.
