World War II Veteran Retired From U.S. Pipe Foundry

Claude Roy Shannon, 86, of Soddy Daisy, Tennessee, died on Wednesday, March 21, 2012.  

He was a lifelong resident of Hamilton County and a 1944 graduate of Soddy Daisy High School. 

Claude was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy and received the Asiatic Pacific Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal, Victory Medal and the American Theatre Medal.

He was retired from U.S. Pipe Foundry and member of the Daisy Masonic Lodge #706 F&AM and attended Daisy First Baptist Church.

Claude was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Sue Shannon and two sisters, Betty Ruth Blessing Dent and Virginia Jo Clift Campbell.

Survivors are three children, Vikkie Bledsoe of Red Bank, Roi (Debbie) Shannon and Alice (Roger) Benton all of Soddy Daisy; four grandchildren, Mike Bledoe, Mark (Serena) Bledsoe, Denise (Scott) Smith and Haley (Jimmie) Shetter; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, March 23, and from 1-2 p.m. on Saturday, March 24, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 24 at the Chapel of Devotion at Hamilton Memorial Gardens with Pastor Mark Harwood officiating.  

Arrangements are by Chattanooga Funeral Home North Chapel, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, Tn. 37343.
