Jesse T. Vick, of Chattanooga, a veteran of the United States Army and captain of the 1949 Chattanooga Central High School football team, died on Tuesday, March 27, 2012.

Mr. Vick was a two-time All-City and All-State Guard and a member of the State Championship team of 1946 for legendary Central Coach E.B. “Red “ Etter and Stan Farmer. He was voted president of his Senior Class and selected as the Most Popular Senior Boy.

He was a beloved husband to Juanice Huff Vick for 58 years. He was father to three children, grandfather to five and had numerous cousins across the south and southwest.

His life was devoted to his family, the Spring Creek Road Baptist Church where he served as a deacon emeritus for over 55 years and a lifetime of service to his God.

The entire family would like to thank Hospice of Chattanooga for their gifted staff of compassionate physicians, nurses and caregivers. Their extraordinary kindness and compassion was much appreciated.

He was preceded in life by his father, James B. Vick, his mother, Ellen Gurley Vick and sister, Melba Vick Shelby.
