The Baylor boys soccer team hosted CPA in the 1st round of the TSSAA State Tournament on Monday. After a lightning delay and forty minutes of scoreless soccer, the Red Raiders scored four goals in the second half to earn a 4-0 win.
Baylor opened the scoring in the 41st minute when Carter Weekley scored offf a Luke Higgo cross.
Higgo assisted on the second goal in the 47th minute scored by Phin Ellison.
In the 53rd minute, Phil LaForge scored off a Heath Techasiriwan pass to give Baylor a 4-0 lead.
Jackson Bergmann scored off a Owen Bible cross in the 59th minute to finish off the scoring.
"In the first half we made too many bad decisions with the ball," Baylor head coach Curtis Blair said.
"Our decision making had to be better for us to be successful in this game. In the second half, we finally just started to make the game simple. Give credit to CPA and Coach Gerlach for making it difficult in the first half, but we must play better if we want to keep on advancing. I thought we were much better and our bench gave us a huge boost in the second half."
Baylor now travels to Ensworth on Saturday for a noon (central) kick-off in the quarter-final match.
