The Volunteer Army Ammunition Plant in Hamilton County is now known as Enterprise South. It is home of Volkswagen of Chattanooga Assembly Plant.

The nearly 7,000 acres once produced TNT beginning with World War II.

Broadcaster Earl Freudenberg interviewed Grady Gant, a charter employee, on the 50th anniversary of the start of production. In 1945, Mr. Gant left the plant and went to work for Dixie Yarns retiring after 46 years.
