UTC Basketball Named 'Amateur Male Team Of The Year'

  • Monday, May 12, 2025
Another day, another honor. Following its historic 2025 NIT title run, the Chattanooga Mocs men's basketball team has been tabbed the 2025 Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame 'Amateur Male Team of the Year' as the organization released its annual winners on Monday afternoon.

The Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame, sponsored by the Tennessee Lottery, announced its full 2025 Achievement Awards recipient list, which highlights an abundance of different honorees and category winners. The Hall will formally present its top honors at its 2025 Banquet, presented by the Tennessee Titans, on Saturday, July 19 at the Omni Nashville Downtown.

"This year's Achievement Award honorees reflect the very best of Tennessee's rich sports tradition — from legends who've inspired generations to rising stars making their mark on the national stage," said Harold Graeter, Chairman of the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame's Board of Directors.

"We are proud to honor these individuals and teams whose dedication, excellence, and impact represent what the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame stands for."

Chattanooga capped off its emphatic title run through the 2025 National Invitation Tournament (NIT) with a 29-9 overall record for the season, matching the most wins in a single season in program history while finishing as one of just 14 NCAA Division I programs with 29+ wins in 2024-25.
UTC also became the first-ever SoCon member to win a DI men's basketball national title.
