Karen Renae Smith, 53, of Dayton, TN, died Sunday, November 17, 2013 at her home. 

She was born October 6, 1960 in Rhea County and was a resident of Rhea County all her life. Karen was a Superior Home Health Care professional and homemaker and she enjoyed decorating, angels, and especially her grandchildren. Karen was a graduate of Rhea County High School, class of ’78. She attended Mountain View United Methodist Church.

Karen is survived by her mother, Bettye Sue Smith of Dayton; her father, Clayton (Doris) Smith of Illinois; her son, Chris Denton; daughter, Alisa Denton; husband, Oliver Dean Smith, all of Dayton; former husband, Terry Denton of Cleveland; two brothers, Scott Smith of Dayton and Mike (Hualing Dei) Smith of Atlanta; four step-sisters, Carolyn Burton of Ft. Wayne, IN, Elizabeth (Mike) Harmon and Amanda Bowling, both of Edinburg, IN and Victoria (Terry) Hebert of Indianapolis, IN; her step-brother, David Burton of Columbia, KY; and two granddaughters, Maddie Bell of Cleveland and Kayleigh Roca of Florida.

Funeral services for Karen will be held Wednesday, November 20 at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jim Purser officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Dayton City Cemetery.

The family is being served by Vanderwall Funeral Home.
