Chattanooga Area Dental Society Names New Officers

The Chattanooga Area Dental Society (CADS) announced the installment of its officers for the upcoming year. Dr. Brian Schenck will serve as treasurer, Dr. Matthew Brock as secretary, Dr. Michael R. Johnson as president-elect, and Dr. Ernest N. Oyler, Jr. will serve as president for 2013-2014.

In its April meeting, the immediate Past-President, Dr Jill Hodges, inducted six life members and presented the Braly Award to four local dentists.

To be considered a life member of CADS, each dentist must be a member in good standing who has been an active and/or retired member in good standing for 30 consecutive years or a total of 40 years of active membership, having attained the age of 65. CADS welcomed the following dentists as Life Members: Drs. C. Samuel Fussell, Douglas M. Graydon, Tony E. Scott, Royce D. McBride, H. Randolph Holder and Michael J. Revenig.

The Braly Award is given in honor of Dr. Thomas E. Braly, Sr., who was an outstanding clinician and leader for many years in Chattanooga. This award is given to dentists for their long-time service to both their patients and the dental community. The Braly Award winners have all practiced dentistry for 35 years or more, upheld the professional attributes of his profession, and exemplified to the public and to his peers a professional air of respect. This award is given to an individual who may not have been recognized through organized dentistry or dental education, but has exemplified the profession of dentistry on a quieter basis to his patients, the public and peer group. Award winners were Drs. Fred C. Whitmire, Jr., John A. Sines, Ernest N. Oyler Sr., Martin K Long.

The Chattanooga Area Dental Society is dedicated to the improvement of the health of the public, to promote the art and science of dentistry and to represent the interests of the members of the dental profession and the public to which it serves.
