Lookouts Hold Off Chattanooga State 5-4

  • Wednesday, April 3, 2013

Chattanooga State again played the Chattanooga Lookouts close, losing 5-4, in the opening game of the season at AT&T Field on Tuesday night.

A J.T. Wise homer helped the Lookouts build a 3-0 lead, then back-to-back triples by Jordan McDonald and Casey Mannion made it 3-2.

After the Lookouts scored twice more, a 2-out, 2-RBI single by Luke Shipway made it close again. The inning ended with a Tiger player thrown out at the plate.

The Tigers threatened again in the top of the seventh, getting two runners on base before the threat ended with a flyout.

The Southern League opener for the Lookouts is set at home on Thursday at 7:15 p.m. against Huntsville. The series with the Stars continues through Monday night.
