Edward Labron Proctor, 66, of Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, formerly of Chattanooga, died on Tuesday, January 21, 2014.

He was a Christian man and a member of the former 23rd Street Baptist Church in Chattanooga. He was a strong and courageous man who battled many years of illness.

Ed was a member of the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam War and over 25 years in the Army Reserves.

His career was in the printing business, having studied printing while still in high school and going on to owning his own company, E&B Printing. He also worked many years at Interstate Life Insurance Company. He went on to become department head of the printing department and teaching classes at Chattanooga State Technical Community College. He also dedicated his workmanship to First Baptist Golden Gateway in downtown Chattanooga.

Ed was a devoted family man and loving father. To his wife, Betty, he was a best friend and her dear life-long and forever love of her life and will be dearly missed. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Margaret Proctor; one brother, Donnie Proctor; and two nephews, Ronnie and Kevin Proctor.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Betty Proctor; son, William Gable Proctor; daughter, Mrs. Jeffrey (Scarlet) Weller; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Mark) Weller, Jr. and Olivia Rose Weller; brothers, William Proctor, Jr. of Rossville, James Thomas of Ringgold, and Ronnie Proctor of East Ridge; several nephews, nieces, great-nephews, and great-nieces.

A funeral ceremony will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 24, in the funeral home chapel with Reverend James Sprayberry and Reverend William Proctor officiating. Interment will follow in Lakewood Memory Gardens, South.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, Jan. 23, from 5-8 p.m. and on Friday, Jan. 24, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the funeral home.
