Chattanooga Volleyball Signs Virginia Volleyball Standout

  • Tuesday, December 30, 2014

Chattanooga Mocs volleyball signee Ally Ford picked up some new hardware this week. The Flint Hill High School (Oakton, Va.) outside hitter added to an already impressive resume in a big way.

Ford is the USA Today High School Sports Virginia Volleyball Player of the Year after leading the Huskies to a 34-0 record and the Virginia Independent School Athletic Association (VISAA) Division I state title for the third year in a row in 2014. She is also the Gatorade Player of the Year for Virginia.

“I could not be more excited for Ally and that all of her hard work, competitive drive, and leadership qualities are being recognized with these incredible awards,” coach Travis Filar said.

“She is so deserving, and what I equally love about Ally is that she would be the first one to tell you, that she could not have achieved any of these accolades without the help of her amazing coaches and teammates.”

She posted 352 kills, 256 digs, 113 service aces and 15 blocks, while accumulating a .341 hitting percentage and .504 kill percentage. That earned her a second VISAA Player of the Year honor (2013, 2014).

Ford is a three-time first team All-State selection and two-time Washington Post first team All-Met honoree earning its Player of the Year as well this season. She tallied 1,104 kills, 1,033 digs and 328 service aces in her Flint Hill career.
