Ables Will Not Pursue Race Against Judge Bales

  • Wednesday, March 26, 2014

Attorney Larry Ables has advised that he does not plan to make a race against incumbent General Sessions Court Judge David Bales, courthouse officials said.

Attorney Ables, a former chief magistrate, had picked up qualifying papers and participated in a number of campaign events. However, he had never filed qualifying papers.

That leaves only Judge Christie Sell facing opposition of the five General Sessions judges. She is opposed by Rex Sparks.

Not facing opposition thus far for eight-year terms are Lila Statom, Clarence Shattuck, Gary Starnes and Judge Bales.
