The Georgia State Patrol said Dalton State assistant basketball coach John Redman for some reason lost control of his 2008 Lexus on Monday night while en route to his wedding, killing fiancee Brittany Huber on impact.

Coach Redman was rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, where he was being treated for head and rib injuries.

The wreck happened about 7:30 p.m. near Newnan, Ga. It was a stormy night across the South, but the highway patrol said the weather was not a factor.

The vehicle struck a concrete bridge support with the main impact on the passenger side.

They were on their way to Mobile, where their wedding was planned for Saturday.

The Patrol said Coach Redman was driving too fast for conditions and could face charges.
