  • Friday, August 29, 2014

Four people lost their lives Thursday evening when a truck carrying four teens left the road and hit a man mowing his grass on Old CCC Camp Road in Murray County.

The truck was driven by River Sosbee, 18, and included passengers Alexis Pinson, 18, Joshua Roberts, 17 and Chelsea Hullender, 18.  Ms. Pinson survived and was airlifted by LifeForce to Erlanger Medical Center.  She is now listed in fair condition.

The other three teens in the vehicle were pronounced dead on the scene.

The truck was said to have flipped and rolled at least twice.  During that time it struck Bryan Bartley, 57, from Dalton, who was on a riding lawn mower.  Mr. Bartley was also killed.

Mr. Sosbee and Mr. Roberts were going to be juniors at Murray County High School.  Ms. Hullender attended North Murray County High School.

Officials reported that speed was likely a contributing factor in the crash.
