A church that has been meeting downtown on Saturday nights is getting expanded space.

Shannon Greer, who doubles as the pastor and the owner of Cadence Coffee on East 7th Street, said the church will be in adjacent space to the coffee shop.

Most business spaces are in the historic McConnell Block between Cherry and Market.

Rev. Greer, who is ordained through the Church of God, said there are 45-50 attendees at the services.

He said recently the church has met in the coffee shop itself.

Cadence is the only local coffee shop in the Central City, noted Matt McGauley, whose Fidelity Trust owns the McConnell Block.

Rev. Greer said the space will be used for other purposes, including concerts.
