World War II Veteran Worked At Grant's Auto Glass For 30 Years

Hobert Reece Hughes, 91, of Ringgold, Georgia, died on Wednesday January 14, 2015.

A native of Soddy Daisy, he had lived in the North Georgia area most of his life. Hobert was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force where he served during World War II, a former employee of Grant’s Auto Glass where he worked for 30 years and a member of Boynton Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Willa Imogene Chambers Hughes; parents, Floyd Hobert and Hattie Jane Brackett Hughes; brothers, Winfred, Warren, Ira Alvin, and Stanley Hughes; and sister Opal Imogene Hughes.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Alice Faye and Allen Simmons of Chattanooga; two sisters, Betty Geneva Hughes Reeves of Pinetta, Fl., and Doris Sue Hughes Coker of Dalton; two grandchildren, Allen Reece Simmons and Patrick Drake Simmons; five great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, January 16, 2015 at Dailey Hills Cemetery with Dr. Keith McLeod officiating.

Arrangements are by Wilson Funeral Home Wallis-Stewart Chapel Ringgold.
