Danita “Nita” Lorriane Mitchell (Baker), peacefully died on February 15, 2015, in South Pittsburg, Tennessee at the age of 51.

Born July 21, 1963 in South Pittsburg, to Charles and Ella Frances Mitchell, she graduated from Bridgeport High School in 1981. For most her life, she worked as a food-service worker and care-giver. 

Nita, as many called her, accepted Christ at an early age and rededicated her life to Christ at Mt. Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church on Aug. 4, 2013. She was known for her honesty, smile, infectious laugh, loving personality, and infamous phrases and adages. 

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Wesley and Zethel Silmon; mother, Ella Frances Province; her father, Charles Franklin Mitchell; her grandchild, A’kera Stevens; and former husband, Willie James Baker, Jr.

Danita is survived by her children, Dr. Rochanda Mitchell of Suitland, MD, and Antuan Stevens of South Pittsburg; sister, Patricia Ann Wilson of South Pittsburg; brothers, Charles Douglas Mitchell, Donald Mitchell and Brandon Mitchell of all Cleveland, OH, Michael Robinson and Rev. Paul Robinson, both of South Pittsburg; grandchildren, Alivia, Aniston, Garry, Makenzie, Ayrika and Bryson; and “special son,” Quannan Hutchinson.

The family will receive friends for visitation at Mt. Bethlehem Baptist Church in South Pittsburg on Saturday, Feb. 21, from 12-1 p.m. Central Time.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at the church beginning at 1 p.m. Central Time with Reverend Larry Harris officiating. Nita will be laid to rest at Gaines Chapel Cemetery.
