Special agents from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation have obtained indictments for a school district maintenance supervisor accused of forgery and misconduct.

At the request of 12th District Attorney General J. Michael Taylor, TBI agents began investigating Ricky Meeks on May 8, 2014. During the course of the investigation, agents developed information that on the same date, at a meeting of the Grundy County Board of Education, a witness observed Meeks change a company’s bid for work at a local elementary school so the company could win the bidding process. After the allegations against Meeks surfaced, the school system suspended him without pay.

On Monday, the Grundy County Grand Jury returned indictments for Meeks, charging the 51-year-old Altamont man with one count of forgery, two counts of official misconduct, and one count of tampering with government documents.

On Tuesday, Meeks turned himself in to authorities at the Grundy County Jail, where he was booked and subsequently released after posting $15,000 bond.
