A Rossville man was taken into custody early Wednesday afternoon after a long standoff in which he threatened to kill himself and any officers who approached the residence.

Officers eventually talked 49-year-old David Grooms into giving himself up. He was charged with two counts of making terroristic threats.

His wife, Melanie, 42, was charged with obstruction of law enforcement officers. She was quickly released on bond.

Lakeview School was placed on lockdown during the standoff with police.

A number of officers were outside the residence on South Elmwood Street for several hours.

Catoosa County Sheriff Gary Sisk said Grooms was armed with a handgun and a long rifle.
