For chairman Dr. John Farr, tonight’s annual Greater Chattanooga Sports Hall of Fame dinner is the close of his decade of strong leadership.

A hall of fame board member since 1993, Dr.Farr plans to continue to hold a seat on the board, but has decided to step down as chair.

“I have enjoyed my 10 years as chairman, but I think it is time to let someone else take over,” said Dr.

Farr. “I believe that the hall of fame is important to our community as each year we are able to honor athletes, coaches and officials who have had great success in their sport.”

Led by former UTC basketball great William Gordon and Super Bowl Champion Charley Hannah, the 19-member Class of 2015 includes four national champions and three All-Americans and will be inducted tonight at the Chattanooga Convention Center.

HOF Committee Member Sam Woolwine:

"John has done a great job setting up and organizing the meetings that are necessary to put on the type of banquet we want to produce, one that will adequately honor those men and women who have given us so much enjoyment with their skills.

“We have been very fortunate to have gifted leadership in the Greater Chattanooga Sports Hall of Fame under several of our presidents, and John has contributed significantly in that role. He has been a great coach, producer and director during his tenure. We will miss his leadership."
