William M. Jenkins, 86, passed away Thursday, April 9, 2015 at an Etowah health care facility.

He was an avid gardener and quickly won the hearts of everyone that was around him. He loved life and to make people happy. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Annie Mae Poteet Jenkins; wife, Ivy Lowe Jenkins; grandson, Todd Meres; brother, H. B. Jenkins; and sisters, Julie Perian, Ellen Perian, Carrie Bates and Ada Lawson. 

He is survived by his children, Audrey (Benny) Stewart and Eddy Jenkins; two loving granddaughters, Chasity Jenkins and Ashley (Nic) Talley; great-granddaughter, Jacey Talley; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, at Higgins Funeral Home with the Reverend Ray Swallows and Jerry Walden officiating. Interment will be 3 p.m. Sunday, April 12, in Delano Cemetery. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home, who has charge of the arrangements.
