Junior League Of Chattanooga Hosts Blood Drive Saturday

  • Thursday, April 16, 2015
The Junior League of Chattanooga will host a Blood Assurance blood drive on Saturday.  Everyone is invited to volunteer to donate blood for the Junior League from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at either the Blood Assurance location at 705 East 4th Street or the Hixson location at 1920 Northpoint Blvd.

Junior League of Chattanooga is a volunteer organization for women interested in making a positive impact in their communities. Founded in 1917, the League is the second oldest in the South and is part of the Association of Junior Leagues International.

Officials said, "Junior League of Chattanooga empowers women through leadership training and development to take action in their communities.
Members of the League are accomplished collaborators who build coalitions, identify community needs, and develop effective and responsive programs to meet those needs.  In its 98 years, the League has given back to the Chattanooga community close to $2 million and 425,000 volunteer hours."

To be eligible to donate blood, you must be at least 17 years old (16 years old with parental consent), weigh 110 pounds or more and be in good health. The process usually takes about 30 minutes and includes a complimentary snack and t shirt. Donors are asked to drink plenty of fluids - avoiding caffeine - and eat a meal that is rich in iron prior to donating. Your one donation can save three lives.
