Perry Lamar Kearse was ordered on Monday to serve 24 months on a federal parole violation.
Judge Sandy Mattice directed that he be on supervised release for a year after he gets out of prison.
Prosecutor Gregg Sullivan noted that it was the second time that Kearse has violated his parole.
He was charged with assaulting a woman that Kearse described as "my baby mama."
His attorney, Myrlene Marsa, said Kearse has declared that he did not really intend to carry out a threat of killing her.
Kearse, noting his first revocation involved the same woman, said, "I got myself into the same situation again."
Judge Mattice said it could be that he needs to stay away from the woman upon his release.
Kearse was arrested earlier on a home invasion and burglaries with Ricky Davis as a co-defendant. Those were dismissed.
