Salvation Army In Need Of Boxed Fans

  • Wednesday, July 8, 2015

Fan distribution is typically on Fridays for The Salvation Army, but this week it will not take place unless more are donated immediately.  With temperatures rising again in the Tennessee Valley, individuals are turning to The Salvation Army for relief from the heat.  To meet the need, Salvation Army caseworkers are distributing free box fans and water to low income individuals and families affected by the heat.

“Over 300 families have already received box fans, and we have 32 who are now on a waiting list to receive fans,” stated Area Commander, Major Algerome Newsome.  “We need the community to join the relief effort and donate new box fans.”

If you or someone you know is in need of a fan, please call 423-756-1023.  Those in need of a cool drink of water may visit our hydration station located at 800 McCallie Avenue.  Passersby will be able to quench their thirst from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. every day that the temperature exceeds 90 degrees.

Chattanooga residents may donate new box fans to the following Salvation Army locations:  822 McCallie Avenue, 2140 East 28th Street.  Cleveland donations may be made at The Salvation Army located at 435 Inman Street.

Monetary gifts may also be dropped by or mailed to 822 McCallie Avenue and are accepted online on www.csarmy.org or by calling 1-800-Sal-Army.
