Bill Hullander Honored With Courthouse Reception After Being Named East Tennessee Trustee Of The Year

  • Wednesday, August 19, 2015

Bill Hullander couldn't make the meeting when he was supposed to be honored as the Tennessee Trustee of the Year.

So he was honored with a reception at the County Courthouse on Tuesday.

Hamblen County Trustee John Baskette, who came for the occasion, said he tried to get Mr. Hullander to the trustee session. He said he finally told him, "You're getting an award."

But Mr. Hullander told him he was involved in a Steps2Hope event and just couldn't get away.

Mr. Hullander has been instrumental in helping two wounded veterans get new homes at his Apison property.

Mr. Baskette said when he announced why Mr. Hullander was not present at the dinner at which he was to be honored, "he got a standing ovation."

Among those at the reception was a longtime Hullander friend, former County Commissioner Curtis Adams.

Almost the entire Hullander family was present, including wife Linda; son Matt and wife Jenny and daughter Mandy from Jackson Hole with her husband, Kenny Hadden, and sons Finn and Isaac.
