The Dalton State men’s soccer team’s record fell to 6-2-1 on their inaugural season after a 1-0 setback to the Bruins of Bob Jones University Friday night at Lakeshore Field. The Roadrunners had more shots on goal than the Bruins by a count of 11 to 4, but failed to capitalize on the numerous chances.
“Anytime you lose a game 1-0 it is frustrating,” said coach Kerem Daser after the match. “I give Bob Jones credit; they played very well defensively and their keeper was fantastic. We made one mental error in the beginning of the second half and that cost us, but overall we played hard for 90 minutes and I like the fact that we are getting off a lot of shots, but we have to convert those shots into scores,” added Daser.
Kiko Rodriguez and Ellis Roberts were particularly strong for the Roadrunners in protecting the mid-field and Coach Daser was pleased with how the team is progressing heading into conference play on October 1st against national power, Auburn University at Montgomery. With the win, the Bruins of Bob Jones moved their record to 5-2 on the season. This was their second win against a Georgia opponent on the week as they defeated Reihardt University 3-2 on Tuesday.
The Roadrunners jump right back into action Saturday, September 26th, against Fisk University with the match scheduled to begin at 3:00 at Lakeshore Field.
