Mae Emma Bell
Mae Emma Bell, 88, departed this life on Thursday, October 13, 2016. She was affectionately known as “Babe” and was born April 5, 1928 in Athens, Georgia to Harrison and Carrie Jones Handy.
She came to Chattanooga as a teenager and soon united with Phillips Temple CME church, where she served faithfully on the Usher Board for years.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory her son, Larry (Aleta) Bray; grandsons, Carlton (Deanne) Bell, Cedric (Karin) Bray and Harrison Bell, Jr.; granddaughters, Nicole Bell, Tabitha Bell, Tiffany Bell, Atesia (A. J.) Mastin; a host of great-grandsons, great-granddaughters; nephews, nieces and friends.
The Life Celebration service will be held at 11 AM Saturday, October 22, 2016 in the Chapel with Pastor Robert G. Henry, Jr., of Phillips Temple. Interment – Forest Hills Cemetery.
The body will lie in state after noon today at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Avenue, 622-9995.
