Southern Gospel Music Hall of Fame member Archie Watkins will appear for Sacred Sounds Fridays at the Ringgold Depot at Depot Street and U.S. 41, Friday, June 10, at 7:30 p.m. Youth pianist Colton Brown will also appear. Randall Franks, “Officer Randy Goode” from TV’s “In the Heat of the Night” will emcee. Ticket donation is $6.
"There is not another voice in Southern gospel music that has moved as many audiences," Mr. Franks said. "We are so privileged to have him as one of our artists who shares to raise funds for the Pearl and Floyd Franks Scholarship."
With 50 years in the spotlight, Singing News fans chose him as Favorite Male Singer three times and Favorite Tenor four times and he also received the Marvin Norcross Award.
His wife Cindy joins him now as he travels around the Southeast sharing his ministry.
Some of his best-loved songs are "Jesus Is Coming Soon," “Two Shoes,” “I’ll Not Turn My Back on Him Now” and “Touring that City.”
Colton Brown, 13, is a rising 8th grade student at Oakwood Christian Academy in Chickamauga.
He began playing piano at the age of 5, taking lessons from Kathy Brown. He has performed at the Ringgold Star Talent Show, GACS, NFMC Festivals, and also at his church.
"I enjoy playing the piano because it allows me to use my creativity and passion for music in a way that is pleasing to God.," Mr. Brown said.
