  • Thursday, July 28, 2016

The Unity Group of Chattanooga is hosting a program to provide a solution to violence prevention, school absentee and reduction to school to prison pipeline through culture, history and the arts.

The event will include Brother Terry Thomas Emeka and Total Dancicle African Dance Ensemble from Atlanta.

Brother Emeka has been  successful in Miami, Fla. (Dade County) and Atlanta (Fulton County) School System in demonstrating the power of cultural art to help youth become more invested in their communities instead of  participating in gang violence, and other counter-productive activities, said officials.

The event will be held Sunday, Aug. 7, at Eastdale Village Community United Methodist Church at 5:30 p.m.

Sherman Matthews, Unity Group, is the chairperson and Charlotte S. N. N. Williams is the co-chairperson.
