The Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched on Monday at 2:25 p.m., to a residence at 124 Latonia Drive, in reference to a child not breathing.
Upon arrival, officers found the deceased body of a 19-month old male child. The mother of the child, Tiffany Gibson, informed officers the child had been running a temperature the previous night and she checked on him at 5 a.m. She said when she checked on the child again at 2 p.m., she found the child unresponsive in his crib.
Investigators and evidence technicians responded to the residence for further investigation.
The child has been transported to the GBI Crime Lab for an autopsy.
