Corrinne Murchison Houston passed away on Monday, November 27, her 93rd birthday, after a lengthy illness.

She was born near Oxford, Mississippi, grew up in Akron, Ohio, and raised her family and lived most of her life in Memphis. She and her husband spent their senior years in the Trenton, Ga., area near their son, Don, and his family.

She was a secretary, retiring after 20 years with Holiday Inn Corporation. Her passion in life was her Christian faith and her sacrificial unselfish service to her family and others. She especially loved children and taught children’s Sunday School for many years and shared the gospel with neighborhood children through her “cupcake club”. She was beloved and will be missed by many.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Rex Houston; daughters, Patricia Austin and Carolyn Boyd; son Dr. Walter Houston; brothers, James and Samuel Murchison; great-grandson, Josh Austin, and lifelong best friend and sister-in-law, Hazel Murchison.

She is survived by her sons, Russel Houston, Mayfield, Ky., and Donald Houston, Trenton; 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Annette Kline, Randolph, Ohio; brother, Richard Murchison, Hattiesburg, Ms.; nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 4, at Chattanooga National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 3, at the Moore Funeral Home, ll9l0 South Main Street, Trenton, Ga. 706 657-4382.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Moody Bible Institute, Chicago, Illinois, or the Alzheimer’s Association.
